Compared to the participation rate last year, this year's club was a complete turnaround with increased membership and one of the highest completion rates in Kootenai County which helped the Jolly Worker's earn an Outstanding 4-H Club of 2007.

The 15 year old works with goats because they are smaller and can be used for milk and meat. Her 7-month-old boer-cross bred Arwen earned her a grand champion ribbon for market.

POLLOS/Press..Gabe Kegley, 9, left, won a blue ribbons in quality and showmanship for his Golden Seabright chicken, Cody Jahns' Californian rabbit took home a grand champion award for quality, and Dustin Kegley, 11, won a grand champion award for showmanship for his Belgian Bearded d'Uccle. The three members of the Jolly Worker's 4-H Club of Mica Flats helped diversify the clubs project participation from the typical swine projects that most members took part in.

  • JEROME A. POLLOS/Press..Kurryn Muhlhauser's mother and sister were involved in 4-H, so Kurryn decided to continue the tradition for the past eight years showing sheep and steer. Bubbs, a 6-month-old Suffix cross was awarded a grand champion ribbon for market, just beating out her sister Jordyn who won a reserve ribbon. "It takes a lot of time to keep up on their diet, working with them and making sure they get their exercise," the 15 year old said.

"It's really fun to walk in and see all the new bunnies after their born," Westrick said about why she enjoys showing rabbits. "They're just so cute and really sweet animals.
